Frequently asked questions.
The Process
- Consultation & Appointment
We work by appointment so we can understand what you are looking for, discuss your timeline, and determine the best way to meet with you. - First Fitting
Your first appointment typically takes about an hour. We guide you through cloth, construction, styling, and the details that shape your garment, then conduct the initial fitting. - Delivery & Final Fitting
Most orders are completed in approximately 6–8 weeks. Once your garment arrives, we contact you to schedule a final fitting. If any alterations are needed, we handle them promptly to ensure the finished piece meets our standard for fit and balance. Rush production may be available for select orders at an additional premium, subject to cloth availability, construction, and timing. - From There
After your first order, we have your pattern on file, making future commissions more straightforward. Your fit can be refined over time, and we can maintain different cuts or silhouettes as desired. The process applies across tailored clothing, shirts, denim, trousers, outerwear, and other custom casual garments.
*Delivery times vary based on construction, cloth selection, and availability. Occasional delays may occur when specific fabrics or materials are limited. Expedited production must be confirmed in advance.
What makes you different from other tailors?
PW Tailoring is built around a deeper appreciation for how menswear is made. We emphasize soft tailoring, full-canvas construction, hand-finished details, and luxury fabrics selected for both beauty and longevity. Our garments are designed to feel natural in everyday life: not stiff, overly formal, or reserved only for special occasions. From suits and sport coats to trousers, outerwear, and custom casual clothing, we focus on fit, craft, and versatility for clients who want more from their wardrobe.
What kind of cloth do you offer?
Australian super fine merino is still king when it comes to beautiful suiting cloth. We work with the very best technical merino weavers, most of which are based in the Biella area of Piedmonte in North West Italy, using Australian grown merino wool. Our shirting cloths are Italian spun and woven Egyptian cottons.
How much are your garments?
Pricing reflects both the cloth and the level of make. Our signature suit offering starts at $1,395 for full-canvas construction with additional handwork, representing the standard of tailoring we believe in most. Half-canvas suits begin at $1,050 for clients seeking a more accessible entry point into our made-to-measure program. Made-to-measure shirts start at $209, with many of our preferred shirting options falling in the $250+ range. Pricing for sport coats, trousers, outerwear, and custom casual clothing varies by fabric and construction.
How do I take care of my garments?
SUITS
Where possible, try to rest and rotate your suits. A second pair of trousers can help with this.
Hang your suit on a wide hanger. Choose a hanger that correctly supports the shoulders to ensure the suit maintains its shape.
Save your money on dry cleaning. Only dry clean your suit when absolutely necessary, and only do so at a premium, reputable dry cleaner (ask us for recommendations). Dry cleaners often use harsh chemicals that can impact on the longevity of your suit and give it an unwanted shine. Remember to ask your dry cleaner to wrap your horn or shell buttons in foil to avoid cracking. For any small blemishes, spot clean your garment with a damp cloth. If your suit is looking a little tired, often a simple press will be more than sufficient.
Take care when putting your trousers on. To avoid ripping the hem, put your socks on first and carefully place your leg through the trouser.
SHIRTS
Much like your suits, dry cleaning can be detrimental to the life of your shirts. The chemicals used when dry cleaning along with the pressing can wear the edges of the fabric and damage the buttons. Instead, cold machine or hand wash your shirts at your machine or faucets coldest setting.
SHOES
The first rule of shoe care is not to wear the same pair of shoes every day of the week. Giving at least 24 hours rest allows the leather to relax and any moisture to evaporate. It is also essential to establish a regular care routine to keep your shoes looking their absolute best. This involves cleaning, conditioning and polishing. At a bare minimum, dedicate time to use a shoe brush to remove loose dirt from the exterior after each wear. It is worth investing in unvarnished cedar shoe trees for each pair of shoes you own to help absorb moisture and ensure the leather keeps its shape.
Do you travel outside of the DMV area?
Traveling Tailor appointments are available for clients outside the Baltimore area with a minimum collective order of $7,500. This may be fulfilled by one client building a larger wardrobe or by a small group ordering across suits, jackets, shirts, trousers, or casual custom garments.
For clients who prefer to work remotely, we also offer virtual consultations and fitting support.
Returns & Refunds
PW Tailoring is committed to delivering garments of exceptional quality and fit. Because each garment is made specifically for the individual client, custom orders are final and cannot be returned or refunded.
If a garment is found, in PW Tailoring’s sole discretion, to have a material issue in workmanship, quality, or fit that cannot be reasonably resolved through alteration, PW Tailoring may elect to replace the garment.
